The perfect blend of trail and city in the Twin Cities' premier trail marathon. This point-to-point race begins at the trails of Battle Creek Regional Park, winds it's way down to the Mississippi, climbs the bluffs and showcases beautiful vistas of the capitol city. The course consists of 50/50 dirt trail/pavement. Expect hills (some steep), woods, prairie, some stairs at mile 20 and the best volunteers in the business. Ditch the loops around the lakes and see what St. Paul has to offer!

What's included?

All participants will receive a custom St. Paul Trail Marathon t-shirt (design coming soon!). Marathon and Half Marathon finishers will receive a custom St. Paul Trail Marathon Medal.

Note: The first shirt order will be placed on July 22nd. Register before the 22nd to ensure we have a shirt for you on the finish line. Registrations after that date may need to pick them up at the EU office after the race. Everyone will get a shirt!


REGISTRATION

Online registration open 1.20.16 - 8.18.16

Day of registration will be available at the Battle Creek Rec Center on race day. Please bring cash or check.

Refund Policy: Endurance United does not refund event fees. If you would like to transfer your registration to a future Urban Trail Series Event, we will do our best to accommodate.

Transfers: There is a $10 Transfer fee to change distances or to transfer bibs to another runner. All transfer requests must be submitted no later than 8/16/16.

Course Map

 

Note: The course will be very similar to last year's with a slight change at the finish. We will now be finishing off of Swede Hollow near the Flat Earth Brewery. We have also added a section around the Battle Creek Water Park.

Course details:

We pride ourselves on having a challenging course. We utilize paved trails, unpaved cross country ski trails, single track mountain bike trails and secret back-woods foot paths.

Be prepared for loose footing in locations, steep downhills on a few occasions and several logs that need to be climbed over/under. The marathon and half marathon runners will also climb a set of stairs later in the course!

We work for months ahead of time to develop a course marking system. Thanks to a great team of volunteers we divide the course into 8 sections that are marked the day before by our "section leaders". Our team gets up super early on race morning to double check everything.

The course is marked by a combination of signs, cones, and construction tape. Each race has color coded signs and mile markers. Last year we had great reports on our trail marking.

water stops:

With the changes in the course map, we are finalizing plans for water stop locations. Similar to last year, we will have water stops every three to four miles. Many will have food, water, portos and gels. Others will have water only.

Medical support will be strategically placed along the course with sweepers following behind.

A full list of water stops and their locations is coming shortly!


transportation:

In order to provide the most interesting race course, the St. Paul Trail Marathon is a point-to-point event. On race morning you will park at the finish line and buses will transport you to the start.

Bus Schedules will be posted here in August.

Once you finish you will be within a block of your parked car. Parking is free.


Cancellation Policy

Race Modification and Cancellation in the Event of Severe Weather:

Saint Paul Trail Marathon race organizers first priority is to ensure that all athletes participating in the events will be safe. The races may be cancelled or shortened in the case of severe weather including extreme heat and humidity, high winds and lightning.

We will utilize The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Heat and Humidity Guidelines for Races, as well as information from the National Weather Service to decide how the marathon, half-marathon and 10K races will be managed in case of severe weather conditions.
