We pride ourselves on having a challenging course. We utilize paved trails, unpaved cross country ski trails, single track mountain bike trails and secret back-woods foot paths.
Be prepared for loose footing in locations, steep downhills on a few rocky sections that need to be navigated.
We work for months ahead of time to develop a course marking system. Thanks to a great team of volunteers we divide the course into sections that are marked the day before by our "section leaders". Our team gets up bright and early on race morning to double check everything.
Combination of signs, cones, and tape. Each race follows the same course so going the wrong way just isn't an option. We receive great reviews on our trail marking.
Have any questions about the course? Email us: email@example.com
Plans for water stop locations are similar to last year, we will have water stops at a few strategic places on the course. We'll have portos at Battle Creek Road and at start/finish.
Medical support and Viking Nordic Ski Patrol will be strategically placed along the course with sweepers following behind.
Parking is available at the Battle Creek Rec Center, on the streets near the Rec Center and just around the corner at Battle Creek Elementary School.
Race Modification and Cancellation in the Event of Severe Weather:
Urban Trail Series race organizers first priority is to ensure that all athletes participating in the events will be safe. The races may be cancelled or shortened in the case of severe weather including extreme heat and humidity, high winds and lightning.
We will utilize The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Heat and Humidity Guidelines for Races, as well as information from the National Weather Service to decide how the races will be managed in case of severe weather conditions.
